Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only the cat died nobly.
Christmas coming nearer, I start thinking about Christmas presents
I mean I have never had problems with choosing good presents for my nearest & dearest
This years I guess I deserve a Christmas present for myself
So, the latest variants are:
1) a good paper dictionary, not just a good one, but the most perfect edition. I want it with all possible synonyms and homophones and what not
2) an mp3 player with 2-4 gb memory
with built-in speakers
I wonder if i can find any
3) a wireless keyboard+mouse set, then I'll be able to search the net lying in the bed LOL
to be continued

But is it possible to find a proper paper dictionary? I've never come by a really good one in bookstores.
By the way, do you celebrate a Catholic Christmas or Russian Orthodox one?
There's a great need for a profound paper dictionary as I am fond of reading dictionaries LOL
There are 3 Longman's dictionaries: Contemporary, English Language and Culture and Language Activator at home, but I've read them all up. Now I am using thefreedictionary.com (mostly) together with Cobuild Corpus, but these are on-line (not so comfortable to read in bed - LOL)
I haven't been to book stores for ages, so I can't even imagine what is on sale now
What do you think about ABBY Lingvo dictionary?
So I don't need ABBY as it is bilingual
I really enjoy reading dictionaries just for fun LOL and find it easy to remember words just while looking them up. Though I must confess some words are too reluctant to enter my mind
Happy to meet an Orthodox on the Internet
