I wouldn't share his euphoric feelings towards the project as it never appeals to me to learn a foreign language through translating it into one's native one, yet admittedly it might be helpful to students of other learning styles.

However, what I like about the project is the following:

  • lots of authentic listening (lectures, youtube videos, songs) with scripts
  • my favourite thefreedictionary.com as a possible resource to look up for a word :)
  • ... and apparently nothing else so far

Well, nothing is perfect under the Sun... and yet...

While listening to 'The Civil War and Reconstruction Era' lecture I came across the way Thomas Jefferson's described the people of the North and the Southerners in 1780:

"Northerners are cool, sober, laborious, persevering, independent, jealous of their own liberties, chicaning, superstitious, and hypocritical in their religion." Take that Yankees.

"But Southerners, they are fiery, voluptuous, indolent, unsteady, independent, zealous of their own liberties, but trampling on those of others, generous, candid and without attachments or pretensions to any religion but that of their own heart."

Yeah... that's exactly what most Southerners are ... indolent... unsteady... zealous of their own liberties and trampling on those of others... lol :cow:

XD What if Blue is My Favourite Colour...

Why day-dreaming may be troublesome...

Mainly because while dreaming people get used to their sandcastles. They begin to feel at ease in that wide-open space inside their minds, the space that is actually located nowhere, but is growing in 4 dimensions. It's not so bad, as sometimes one can find there a room to hide, to stay alone for a while, to think...or just relax...

Then these castles get inhabited by fabulous creatures featured by subconscious background of that dreaming mind... Again, there is not much to worry about. Some of them can be very friendly and nice talking to... they might even help draw some fears away... Others are just the sombre replica of that wraggle-taggle gypsy that every human has somewhere deep inside himself and wishes to get rid of...

If only one could have stopped here...

Then, there inevitably comes some day when these fabulous creatures take the flesh and blood of some real people....

The crisis comes when real people refuse to follow the sandcastle circuit...


On the other hand, blue is rather hopeful as it's also the colour of the sky...

Just wondering when it passes away at last and leaves me alone....

It's all been a torture from the very beginning... believing in dreams and building sand castles.... choosing wrong people... wrong places... and wrong activities.... ever since early childhood....

Perishing is what is waiting in the end... hmmm.... is it worth becoming a Goth then .... :laugh:

CAE

just remember a question from the test:
1) I thought Sally was going to drop the ball but she suddenly made a brilliant XXXXXXXX
2) The thief put his hand through the window and released the XXXXXXX
3) The plan was too good to be true so she was sure there was a XXXXXX in it.

The task was to find 1 word that could be inserted in all these 3 sentences.
I reconstructed the sentences as I remember them, there might be mistakes, anyway the meaning is preserved.
Any ideas?
