It is the third day I've been using new Firefox and I have to admit I'm enjoying it tremendously... It's funny that I should as my computer skills are rather poor, yet, now the mere sight of the screen is perfectly charming and encouraging... The tiny buttons are small but easy to find and leave plenty of space to the working window. The number of options is absolutely beyond my expectations; not sure if I will ever manage them all)) On top of that, everything is working incredibly fast, really, especially the blog with lots of various gadgets, which used to slow down the browser. I do hope it is in the past now.

Yet, something has been eating me up for the last few days...Something has been nagging at me...sapping out my energy, my natural enthusiasm... What is that that has spoilt my fun? What is that that has washed me out? I was hoping to set to my task with vim and vigour... What am I lacking now? Uncomfortably awkward...indeed...:unic:

  1. the window is almost finished
  2. regarding the bank - everything is settled
  3. the blog is basically ready to use... with lots of widgets...Ah..
  4. a CPE Skype session started (what I like particularly about it is Upstream as the main course)
  5. dad's issues under control
more points to the to-do list:

  1. lesson planning for the 1st Sept
  2. penpalling - 3 letters to reply to
  3. re-decorating - to finish
  4. search Cambridge for new activities - mind new CPE
  5. start reading anything at last, for pleasure I mean
  6. arrange a schedule!!! - otherwise I'll forget and miss and mess everything
Anyway, good job and off I go, good girl :cow:

I used to love this song so much that it became impossible to listen to it again after what had happened. Nonsense of course, but that's the way I am, all comprised of ridiculousness, absurdity, inanity and senselessness. The fact that this song is now included into most of my playlists is a true sign that that debilitating disease has been cured at last. 'Learnt to live again' in way, to coin a phrase.

Actually, this brings me to the fulfilments of the past two days as, I believe, we should take notice of all happy happenings in our life and be thankful. It does frame your mind to be thoughtful and success-oriented.

So, here it goes, my list of my adventures or, rather, an attempt to comprehend them.

First and foremost, according to Dad's medical tests there is nothing serious and everything can be cured. As usual, they are fond of 'up to his age', however now they tend to be more positive. There will be more appointments, but no need to make haste.

The academic year is to begin in 4 days... Never before have I met the 1st September the way I am doing it now: workload - unknown, salary - unknown, schedule -unknown, self-study - unknown.... Yet it doesn't bother me much. Without any apparent reason I am feeling extremely positive about the future. It looks more like I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Two more things raised my spirits sky-high, namely the recovery or, better, re-discovery of IP. It's my third account on there and I am fairly determined to keep it up as it provides a good opportunity to go on pen-palling throughout the world. Funnily enough, I became to like writing. Unlike on here, IP makes writing communicative, which in the long run contributes to creative writing as well. On the other hand, Skype sessions with the central focus on speaking could help develop productive skills. There's definitely some light at the end of the tunnel....

The only problem, as I see it,is to strictly schedule the time otherwise all these good intentions would pave the road to... (everybody knows where to :) )

ps. not to forget about translating....another great undertaking of the coming year...not now, of course...

I'm kinda free now... No addictions, no silly ideas.... quite a grown-up, hehe

That's exactly what is going to be tested by this new account...

Generally speaking, it's not that I really need coming back, I mean the site itself is not interesting and has never been.... yet the idea of the return of the King was to find out if I can quit it myself, at will, without being forced... Like, if I believe in the freedom I was presented with, then I could manage all these issues perfectly well and on my own....

The only problem is the privacy.... Hm, on the one hand, ppl from Africa & Turkey are too intrusive and boring, on the other hand, the fact that my private settings are public can hardly be found extremely motivating ... Well, time will show...

Anyway, sort of upgrading to a new level, hehe...:cow:

Well done for completing the test. Your score is 25.

Based on your test score, here is information about the Cambridge ESOL exams that might be most appropriate for you.

In order to improve your general English, you might like to think about studying for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)

ahhaha....a brilliant idea :jump: I could register when come for the Certificate, in this case I'll save on travel expenses

...which turned out to be a disaster... :axe:

Two days wasted on an on-line player in the belief that they know what they are talking about... which was very stupid on my part, hm. As a result, half a dozen of new accounts (because first of all they want you to register even if they do not exist any longer), a couple of new playlists (which is not bad as such, but extremely time consuming), a number of old accounts with new embeded players (which could have made me happy if this had been my ptimary objective) and still, no suitable player here (the one I've managed eventually is not worth the whole thing)....

will be putting all that to experience... (as if there had been nothing else to do) :winnie:

It is hard to believe that only 4 days have passed since my return as so many things have happened and even more are waiting to come... The current events are a bit too dramatic to enjoy watching them unfold and, what is more, they tend to wipe out the memories of the previous week. In fact, the circumstances I was exposed to is the last thing I'd wish to forget about, so here comes another piece of writing, sort of a reminder or, rather, a brief record of some experience I underwent then.

First and foremost, I was set entirely free, at last. It happened exactly seven days and nine hours ago... because no official papers could ever leave you free, true freedom is something given from above. And it was. Not as a reward or inducement, not in the least, but as a gift, as the most precious gift and the highest honour. It's beyond me now to imagine how I had managed to keep my head above water without it, though I am not sure I actually had. However, now it's virtually urgent to maintain it. And I am determined to do it.

Funnily enough, though quite predictable on my part because that's how it often happens, my professional interests began to flag and I am really thinking of another trade for a change. I used to love rushing about, shuttling between school and academy and in the meantime flying to other workplaces and making time for study. The naked truth is that such hectic lifestyle holds no appeal for me any longer, probably because I'm constantly growing older (signs), yet it's most likely due to this wonderful feeling of self-assurance and self-confidence. Basically, that's how it should have been from the very beginning... and that's where total freedom stems from... Doing things not because you are forced to and there's no other way out, but because you are willing to do them. No duty, only desire ever since.... Ha! that sounds a bit of self-indulgent and self-absorbed but it isn't. The real nitty-gritty is to wish proper things :cow:

well, sleepy as usual.... off to bed :winnie:

What I like about this fertile source of ideas is that whenever you come on-line you'll inevitably find something noteworthy. So, now I am exploring and enjoying 'Inside Track To Successful Academic Writing'... I wish I had had it the year before... lots of things would have been much easier... Yet, no crying over split milk, hehe...at least now there is a chance which it would be silly not to grasp...

Another point should be made in relation to a colleague on LJ... What she is doing is rather interesting and it would be nice to participate, only I am not sure if this is exactly what I am looking for... guess, it's smth requiring more thinking...

Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only the cat died nobly.
Today was very special :unic: , like many-many years ago, when peace of mind and self-respect were the norm, when everything was straightforward and everybody sincere, when simple things brought sheer pleasure... It is like starting to live again, thought it took about a year wake up, to regain consciousness... I wonder what triggered this amazing feeling of recognition, which exactly of today's events breathe new life into my souls and body...

Actually, it all started yesterday, right after the first lightning strike and strengthened with the torrential rain and cool wind. Only, I didn't understand it then, putting it down to something in the air, like a fresh breeze :shy: Indeed, today's morning was nothing out of the ordinary: an early lesson on Skype, a bit of self-study, a bit of reading, chatting with Mum...then came that window...too old to repair actually, but no way... a dash for the shop to buy some missing parts for the grinding machine and some undercoat and the like. In the most inexplicable manner, I found myself in Decathlon paying for a travelling bag-backpack-trolley bag, the best ever for any trips, and a pair of extremely comfortable sandals... That was a stroke of luck, I know...then home again and doing the window... Sitting now in front of the laptop, after clearing everything away, exhausted but with the most wonderful sense of achievement... It has just occurred to me that once I was that happy, doing things I feel like doing, not fearing anybody and having a future ahead...

Jolly good, in a word :)

the only problem is the keyboard which is constantly acting up, boo, so off I go :winnie:

Still setting priorities and trying to follow my own rules and regulations, I believe writing at least twice a week into here will do me good provided I make time during the day hours, when I am reasonably capable of thinking and assessing the reality (an evil smile here). However, here it goes, my today's piece of writing.

To start with, I found it highly promising that now I can use my both phones again. Even though it took me about 4 hours to get to the office to unblock the pin, yet, I truly think it was worth it inspite of the terrible heat wave. Besides, I could try that new dress of mine and now I am absolutely aware of how it should be altered. There is only one think that bothers me. Again, as it had happened before, I got lost and had to walk miles and finally ask people for direction. It's not that I mind walking, even in hot weather, mind! I was in a new dress (another evil smile). It looks more like I can't acquire information through reading in Russian. I wonder if I could find the way with a map in English, I bet I could, I have always been good at map reading. Geee! Planning another trip I'll better print out the route in English...

Another positive issue of today is that eventually we have managed to schedule our Skype session with Adrianne. I really hope to be of any help to her since she'll sit her CAE in December. Also, these lessons will definitely make my blog go... Ohhoho, it literary takes pain to sort out the material for the blog... Err, Rome was not built in one day, was it? Then, why not be patient? ;) (honestly, what I like most of all about the blog is its design - one more evil smile)

Among other things I feel very positive about today is the recovering of my SlideShare account. Together with Scribd it offers plenty of opportunity to store the documents/course-books and PowerPoint presentations for the lessons.

And last, but not least (guess what - an evil smile again) was consuming two mango ices, mmmmm yummy :cow:

Now, time for a to-do list^

1. the third (as well as the forth) mango ice is waiting
2. do the falt before tomorrow's parents' returning from their country house, and shopping, sadly ... I wonder if there is someone who hates shopping the way I do...
3. painting the window pane.... :) I think I'll like it
4. planning the next route - and storing the ebooks
5. altering the dress... and the jacket to match it
6. in the meantime, will I make time to watch TLOR? guess, it can be teamed with No. 1 ... hehehe....

off I go :winnie:

ps what I highly appreciate about my job is when the accountant brings my salary home, mmmm, no need to go out, fantastic!

Interesting, I was so engaged within the last ten days that there was virtually no time to suffer from the apparent lack of the Internet, what is more, I even forgot all about it, yet the first thing to do after coming back home was to go on-line...he-he... My, it took me painstaking years to have everything working, it looks like my laptop missed me much more ;) However, joking apart, there is an enormous workload to cope with.
First, (in chronological order) Speaking. Thanks to Barbara, we talked for a long while, discussing the exam and our feelings and attitudes. I am really happy to learn that she is going to London to study. I also appreciate her compliments on my blog and the the whole project. Such a kind girl, she is! However, what worries me was my occasional fumbling for words which cast a cloud over our chat, at least for my part. Generally speaking, it implies that even 10 days without practice matter greatly. agrh

Secondly, Writing. It doesn't seem as easy as it used to be before, agrh again. The first sentence I was stuck with was about liking... so, next comes the list of synonyms in terms of both words and collocations:

Appeal:
it holds little/no appeal for me
...'s appeal lies in ...
boost, enhance /enduring, lasting, timeless/ immediate, instant appeal to
(smth/smb) (never) lose their/his/her/its appeal for
(smth/smb) strongly/really appeal/s to me /enormously
(the characters) directly appeal to my imagination

Attract:
= entice
= allure
= lure
= tempt
= win over
= captivate
= tickle smb's fancy (inf)
opposites attract

Attraction:
hold/ have no/ powerful/ irresistible attraction for me
deny/ feel/ resist attraction towards

Charm:
a woman of considerable charm
his natural charm and wit made him very popular
rustic/rural charm
still retains a lot of its old-world charm/ lost its charm for me
part of the, its charm

hm, I dare say it's a bit of a struggle with... When did I happen to become so lazy? I usually don't mind idling for a while, but now it's beyond me to set to work, argh onсe again...

nity nite anyway :cow:

Eventually, the tickets are bought.... Hope to finish my packing by tomorrow, though packing is exactly what I like about travelling. You never know what you may need and, reasonably, the only way not to spoil your trip is to take everything that might come in handy. Basically, this implies a lot of dreaming and guessing, highly positive, to be honest. All of a sudden it strikes you that the weight is too much and you have to set your priorities, another extremely elevating experience. Then, when it turns out that about 90 per cent of what you were determined to take in the beginning has to be left at home, all you can do is console yourself with the idea that the place you are going to is not altogether uncivilised. Nor is it deprived of shops or markets, so you could buy whatever you'll need ... Finally, you feel amazed to discover that travelling light is what makes you independent and free...

Apart from packing, I am thinking of activities I would be able to take up there...if I need an album with pencils or a notebook with a pen, errrr, probably both... and what books to take...the few I can stuff in won't be enough which naturally leads to downloading more... Agrh, I forgot all about music... need converting.... booh, the modern technology is not as advanced as people believe it is...each device requires its own file format and it drives me nuts...

Guess, this piece of writing can be considered enough for today, anyway it's time I finished, and most likely till I come back,... hehe if I will :)

Gone, almost :winnie:

In spite of being Saturday, the day was neither relaxing nor inspiring... Broadly speaking, weekends tend to be much more demanding and tense than weekdays...even when on holiday...
